To Kill a Mockingbird

The diction used is casual but still instills a vivid image. "There was no hurry, for there was nowhere to go, nothing to buy and no money to buy it with." The allusion in this passage is the reference to FDR's quote during the depression, the author chose to use this quote because of the time and because, of course, of it's meaning....that our country is one and we can "make or break it." I love Scout because she is so strong willed and mature, I feel that I can relate to her really well compared to other characters that have been in books I've read. But I do agree that she is a little too mature, maybe it was just the time and the way she was raised, but she seems to have much more life experience than most other girls. But there are also little things that she does that are immature and a little ignorant for example, her temper and the way that she doesn't understand how Jem's changing.
